Customer Review
“We have an old Victorian house. The job we needed doing, was to create one large room with U/F heating under large tiles, with kitchen, dining and lounging conservatory area, from 3 existing rooms. This required demolishing 2 old thick walls, and supporting those walls with 7 hefty steels, and redirecting a chimney flue.
We now have a wonderful kitchen and dining area, extending into a living conservatory area overlooking the garden. The work has been achieved with a very professional and exact manner, with so many important details considered no matter how small. DSD added creative and imaginative ideas if there were issues to overcome or just a better way of doing things. There was considerable dust and bricks removed, yet with the doors being sealed and the builders cleaning and tidying up, it minimised the stress this work could have caused. The team was always courteous, friendly, and accommodating. They did a great job at a reasonable cost and we were so pleased with the outcome that we are enjoying now. Thank you.” - Barry Downing
About the Project
Our clients were looking for an open plan kitchen, living and dining area to create one large, space to entertain and bring their whole family together. The build involved combining three existing rooms and transforming them into one multi-functional space.
DSD took on all structural alteration works, including knocking out two existing walls, putting in numerous steel beams and relocating the existing wood-burning stove. The existing conservatory was tastefully incorporated into the new layout to create an orangery. We upgraded the windows to double glazing, laid underfloor heating throughout and upgraded the roof.
Our team put the utmost care and attention into the project to ensure the original features of the character property were tastefully retained.
As the project was completed with the clients still living in their home, we constructed a temporary kitchenette and temporary dust-barrier walls to make it as comfortable as possible throughout the build.
